My Introduction to Poetry

I've always been familiar with poetry as most people are, but it wasn't until recently that I've come to know the power of poetry in its various forms. Writing poetry has offered me a new way to explore and process emotions. Among the many poetic forms, the sonnet stood out for its structured beauty and emotional intensity. Learning to write sonnets changed how I processed feelings. It allowed me to understand and manage emotions in ways other writing styles might not. Sonnets are a poetic form with a strict structure: 14 lines, usually written in iambic pentameter, and often following a specific rhyme scheme. This structure seemed limiting at first, but it actually encouraged me to focus and gave my writing more clarity.
Here's a sonnet I wrote a few months ago. Hope you like it!
THE PATH
The day starts to fade where the sky gleams
Daring to ignite what we hide
Brightly, the sun’s very last ray beams
And finds us in the quiet, casts our calm aside
Emblazoned emblems that we miss
Pour in light, then dim
Turn the weariness into bliss
Tells us to feel every whim
To rise again when we lose our way
To wander, even with no destinations
Calls us to risk our hearts and lead ourselves astray
Far from expectations
A step forward through the shadows
Then another, breaking through what time hollows
